There was a great sandwich shop nearby when I used to live downtown…

I knew it was family-owned, and I would often pick up delicious cheesesteak sandwiches on the way home. The funny thing was, the owner, who served me, was sometimes very welcoming and friendly, asking how my day had been, adding extra fries. Other times he was polite, but reserved, making the sandwiches with no conversation, thanking me for my business as I left. I told my husband, wondering if perhaps the man had a split personality.

One day, after work, my husband met me near the shop and grinning, said, "I think I’ve figured out why the owner’s sometimes different…" we went in. The man was beaming and friendly to both of us, and my husband asked him, "Are you Ned ?"

The man answered, "No, I’m Charles. Ned’s in back." He called out , and his twin, with the dour expression I recognized, came from the kitchen ! My husband and I laughed about it all the way home. 😄

I had a similar type of experience when I was a young student at university many years ago.A girl from one of my classes always stopped for a friendly chat whenever she came across me when moving around the campus - at other times I couldn't figure out why she would just walk right past me without even saying hello.Later, when I saw her walking along with her identical twin sister, the one I knew gave me a bit of a knowing look as she probably noticed a surprised look on my face.

That's hilarious 😅 Almost sounds like a scene in a sitcom.

@bijouxbroussard I can see how that would be, and how it could be confusing until you could make the comparison. 😊 Twins are an interesting phenomenon. I've never known any identical twins, personally. I guess that's why it reminds me of a show or movie.
@SeaGlass I had a colleague years ago who had identical triplets, which I’d never seen before irl. She was 32 and already had a son, but she and her husband were going to "try for a girl". When the doctor told them she was pregnant with three boys, she says her husband fainted.
As young men they were in a couple of commercials.

@bijouxbroussard That's wild! I've heard multiple births run in families. I would have fainted, too, if I had that many babes on the way! 😅 I"m guessing they didn't try for a girl again. Four children in two pregnancies has to be a bit much in so many ways. I always wondered about the pros and cons of being a multiple. Too cool they were in commercials. It probably helped fund their thrice as expensive upbringings. Must've drawn a crowd everywhere they went as kids.

Lol, that's funny.

Btw, I love a good cheese steak as well. How do you get yours? Just steak and cheese? Onions & peppers? More?
@sarabee1995 Back then I just had steak and cheese. My husband had peppers, as I recall. Those sandwiches were so, so good. During lunchtime there were lines out the door and down the street. I could only get them after work. 😊

@bijouxbroussard I get mine with dill pickles to add some crunch! :)

@BlueGreenGrey Yes, I once lived near there. Sometimes after going to the theater my best friend and I would stop by Fenton’s for their crab sandwiches, and a sundae.
