Where I live I wouldn’t survive long without a/c and heating. We have extremes both ways. I did do without it several years when I was young and in good health but we kept the windows open. It’s not safe to that here even in the daytime now with all the transients and thieves wandering around in this city.

@cherokeepatti I would be a miserable miserable person without AC. I've worked a physically demanding job without it and it was rough but at least I would come home to it

@Nebula Even when I was young I would get stomach cramps from getting overheated when mowing the yard. We had fans & a water cooler after we moved off the farm, and a very small window a/c unit in the living room. It gets hot and most times mixed with humidity here in Oklahoma and thats a really unhealthy combination. Didn’t really know about electrolytes back then or I might have felt better in the heat. Taking a shower several times a day helped cool me down. And wetting down hand towels and freezing them and using them at night to cool myself off with, and plenty of ice water.
