I Am A Thinker And A Dreamer

There are many times when I can't go to sleep directly. Maye it's been a hot day, Or a long one. Or a bad or a sad one. Just anything can happen.

I snuggle into my satin pillowcase, close my eyes, and begin to picture the most recent chapter of my latest continuing story. I don't start from the beginning, oh, no, not me. I slowly turn the pages, like in a book, and concentrate on what I put down last, the storyline, and what comes next. I begin to compose, slowly, word by word. Then an invisible hand reaches down and removes the sign saying "Writer's Block" and places it to one side. Then - WOW! Inspiration!

I start to breathe deeper, slower, more rhythm to my thoughts now. I can picture the scene, the rhythm in the walking of the people and pets, if any; what they say and the noises they make. What is happening now?

I frown in my sleep. What just happened before that present scene which led into the present situation?

Eventually I relax, the story continues.

But, by this time, I am asleep, my present composition piled in my brain like neat stacks of paper in a quivering wait to be sprung.

Wow! You put perfectly into words how my brain works, too. We are really siblings in our hearts and souls :*

@RobinPhoenix Know why? With our shared interest in the arts, we think alike. You perform und sing und dance (und probably compose, too) und I compose in mein head und it works fuer me.

I must tell you - I heard from a poster on SW who was complaining about people having to pay taxes fouer making kids taking art and music in schools. He said those subject were "a waste" und not worth our time when we could be devoted to technology. Naturally, I put in mein two cents (as did another person) und proudly listed alle mein successes in such subjects. He scoffed and asked, in effect, what was mein effect in life to have taken these things! He was talking like music und art had no place in education! Just because he had a musician friend who couldn't make it und failed. (Sigh.)
I am not composing right now, maybe in a few years I will try that, too ;)

@MaryJanine It's sad that some people think so, but it's not the first time I've heard it. These poor souls don't know or understand what art, no matter what form, can give us. It doesn't matter whether it's the artist himself or the one who listens to his art, watches it or observes it. Art is an enrichment for people, for their souls and minds, an outlet, an opportunity to escape from everyday life, an opportunity to find peace, to express oneself where there are no words. It is not for nothing that the first people were already occupied with art, doing cave paintings or jewellery. Our life would be very poor and worthless without art.

@RobinPhoenix That sounds wundervoll, kleiner Bruder! When I said it, it was a "shot in the dark" because I hadn't spoke to you about it before und I hoped I was right in assuming so. Now I am eager to experience THAT.

I already cry mit joy when I hear you sing oder see you perform. You are multi-talented, no doubt about that.

Now, one correction/question from your Englisch Lehrerin (if I may become one fuer a few minutes) the word "jewelry". Ist that the German spelling, oder just a mistake? In America, we spell it "jewelry". (If it ist German, I will put it into mein study guide.)

MaryJanine.
You can always ask me what you want to know, my beloved sisterheart.@MaryJanine :*

You know, I always appreciate it when you help me avoid mistakes in your mother tongue. But with this one it doesn't seem to be a mistake,
but to be a common other word for jewelry, because the online dictionary tells me it's written this way as a translation for the German word Schmuck.

@RobinPhoenix Let me see if I have this right. "Schmuck" means "jewelry" in German? That ist puzzling to me...because in America, "schmuck" is a word fuer a disliked oder disgusting person(!) I brought up the question because you spelled "jewelry" mit two l's. In Englisch, we only use one - until this Morgen, I never knew it to be otherwise und the printed dictionary I have (Englisch) und often refer to doesn't contain the word with two ll's - just one.

If you are right und I am wrong, that's another spike in mein German education. Between you und Michael, I am learning things right und left - here, there, und everywhere!
