I am still chuckling...

Yesterday afternoon, I stopped in to have dinner in a little hole in the wall burger joint, halfway between my point A and point B. Sitting there perusing the menu, minding my own business, tapping my foot and gently rocking my head back and forth to the beat of the good tunes they were playing. I was oblivious to the people around me, I was there to grab lunch, nothing more. All the sudden a man, about my age, I suspect, with dark hair, blue eyes, and a great smile, slid into the booth seat opposite me. He flashed those pearly whites and held out his hand, and said, "Is this my dance?" Now it wasn't the kind of place you get up and cut a rug - booths and tables lined the floor leaving barely enough room for the waitress to shimmy through with her tray of food. My initial reaction was "what a goof". But then....hey, what the hell? Why not? Then I asked myself - what was was a girl to do in the face of a handsome stranger? So I smiled and took his hand. We proceeded to "dance" in that booth with the worn out and cracked red leather benches, still seated across the table from each other, my hand in his. We laughed, mimicked a saucy dance, and had fun. When the song was over, he grinned and took his leave finger tips pressed to his lips in a silent kiss and I, still chuckling, gave him a quick wink and a smile as he went on his way out the door. I'll never see him again, and it's doubtful anything like that will ever happen to me again, but what a fun moment in an otherwise routine day. When the waitress came to take my order, she said, you guys are comfortable and then asked how long we'd known each other. I furrowed my brow and pretended to struggle to count the years then casually said..."oh, somewhere around...um...2 minutes now, I guess." Her confused expression was priceless, which made me chuckle again. Thankfully I can still appreciate the random happy when it shows up. Wishing you all a totally random happy in your day soon.
