Whyyy does getting a new washing machine installed cost nearly $1,000??

when this new one breaks, you’ll find me outside like this

I had the same problem with vibrators. That’s why you’ll find me inside with this.

@Ontheroad I know. I’ve really gotta do something to overcome this shyness.

@OlderSometimesWiser right? Spit it out woman! Wait, I mean say what you mean🤣
@OlderSometimesWiser Those vintage vibrators don't come cheap!

Especially the Macaura Pulsacon...

How much is installation? Im sure I can round up a few SWers and come install it for you.

Just need to give us some SW coins and let us take a selfie with Mabel.

@BillyMack I bought the installation pack that comes with the hoses and whatnot, and I paid to have the old one removed. It’s being installed on Monday
BillyMack · 46-50, M
@itsok yeah that’s probably better. I can’t get there until three Tuesdays from now. Between the hours of 9-3
itsok · 31-35, F
@BillyMack it’s in my calendar. See you June 16th. I’ll have snacks
Ontheroad · M
It that includes the washing machine, then it's (depending upon what you bought) about right.
itsok · 31-35, F
@Ontheroad it does. I know it’s the correct price, it’s just expensive 🫩
Ontheroad · M
@itsok yep, being "about right" doesn't negate that prices have gotten crazy!
Pfuzylogic · M
Don’t forget the dryer!
itsok · 31-35, F
@Pfuzylogic my dryer is still working, thankfully

Gibbon is exactly right
Nothing is made like it once was.

All appliances are extremely expensive
SW-User
I heard those scrub boards sheer off nails and skin if you are not careful
itsok · 31-35, F
@SW-User it’s a sacrifice I must be willing to make 😏
SW-User
@itsok 😉 Indeed
Gibbon · 70-79, M
The bigger question is why can't today's technology build something to last. The old machines ran and ran until the mechanical timer failed.
itsok · 31-35, F
@Gibbon I’m sure they could
Gibbon · 70-79, M
@itsok Absolutely. But limited life is intentional for sales turn over . Same reason they build rechargeable products with permanent non replaceable batteries .
Elessar · 31-35, M
Mine did cost €250, installing it was as simple as connecting two pipes and a plug, so I did it myself; at the most the balancement if you have an uneven floor

If it was 1 grand I'd skip that too and go back to fig leaves like the primitives
itsok · 31-35, F
@Elessar that’s what I’m doing next time
Sapio · 51-55, M
That seems very expensive for the installation. Can you get a quote somewhere else?
itsok · 31-35, F
@Sapio sorry, I meant that’s the cost for the machine, delivery, installation, etc
Sapio · 51-55, M
@itsok ah okay, that I can understand.
Musicman · 61-69, M
I just bought a new set last week.

itsok · 31-35, F
@Musicman those look nice!
Musicman · 61-69, M
@itsok Thank you very much 😊
fun4us2b · M
Something is wrong there...unless you had to have the electric or plumbing somehow upgraded?
itsok · 31-35, F
@fun4us2b it’s for the washer, delivery, and installation
fun4us2b · M
@itsok still sounds like a lot...I assume they took the old one away too....
itsok · 31-35, F
@fun4us2b they will
BEENOV · M
I'm dealing with this right now. Strange
itsok · 31-35, F
@BEENOV it’s a pain
GoFish ·
i think 1k is just the base charge for doing anything anymore these days
itsok · 31-35, F
@GoFish I know 😣
GoFish ·
@itsok yeah ugh ah well
