Nietzsche's greatest inspiration

Great opening paragraph to Julian Young's wonderful philosophical biography on Jarfff's #2 thinker, man oh man i love this idea of living your life in such a way that in all seriousness you could declare da capo, again, over and over again.

We've messed up before, we've lived through things we never want to live through again, but what if we lived after those events that justified those rough times.

It was not a simple procedure, Nietzsche's idea was a tortuous path he took, which ended in a sad state of lunacy, but it sure is captivating to me, it's just the kind of thing i need to approach my specific life circumstances in the best manner conceivable.

Enough of me babbling, here is that first paragraph:

"NIETZSCHE'S GREATEST inspiration, he believed, was the idea that if one is in a state of perfect mental health one should be able to survey one's entire life and then, rising ecstatically to one's feet, shout ‘Da capo! – Once more! Once more! Back to the beginning!’ – to ‘the whole play and performance’. In perfect health one would ‘crave nothing more fervently’ than the ‘eternal return’ of one's life throughout infinite time – not an expurgated version with the bad bits left out, but exactly the same life, down to the very last detail, however painful or shameful. His own particular task was to become able to do this, to reach a point where he could shout ‘Da capo!’ to his own life. Let us see what he had to contend with before reaching that point." (from "Friedrich Nietzsche: A Philosophical Biography" by Julian Young)

@bookerdana I will watch that in full soon, thank you, there is such a wealth of secondary material in videos even that i've glossed over mostly. His death of god statement i think gets misinterpreted, in my opinion he was merely diagnosing where the world was going, and with modernity, the secular as norm, he was right, ... however the church remains a force much maligned and taken as foolish that somehow is more to me than it was for him.

@bookerdana Listening to it now, like it, can just listen to it, ever see Michael Sugrue? He's good!!

@SW-User I love the way Nietzsche is on Jungs couch😀

I have not.....where might I see him
SW-User
@bookerdana Youtube, he's got these 90's lectures, his lecture on Marcus Aurelius in particular made an impression on me. Jung is great!! If Nietzsche had Jung for real he probably would have lived to a ripe old age.

@SW-User Oh,live a little😎 Idk if this works but
Can you download YouTube transcriptions as text?

If the video you’d like download Youtube transcriptions from a video that is not yours, there’s no download option. However, there is a way that you can get the full YouTube video transcript. Follow the steps we have outlined in the above sections — pick the one that suits the device you are viewing the video on.

When you have the transcript in front of you, click the three-dot button to toggle off the timestamps. Next, long-click to highlight the text and press “copy”. You can then paste the entirety of the YouTube transcription onto a Word document or even a Google Doc.

If you’re the owner of a video you can download transcripts directly from YouTube and can even choose between various formats. To do this:

Go to your YouTube studio and select subtitles from the left-menu
Choose the video you’d liken to download subtitles for
Hover your mouse over “Duplicate and Edit”, then click on the three-dot menu that appears next to it.
Select “Download” and choose the format you’d like your subtitles in.

@bookerdana This is a challenge for me i just see a toggle timestamps, no download option, perhaps i have to do the patreon thing for those bells and whistles. I can afford it now, but maybe not right away.
