When do you give up?

How many times does someone need to decline your invitation before you stop inviting them?

My boss never brings his lunch so he is always looking for a lunch companion, and starts with me. I politely decline, as I always bring my lunch and he knows this, yet thinks he can convince me to go out anyway. It's not like he's paying either, and it wouldn't matter because I Don't Want to Go Out for Lunch. Yes, I have gone with him on the rare occasion, but after years of asking I would think he'd eventually give up.

You would think he would know by know and has to be awkward for you.

He probably just doesnt want you to feel left out.
Maybe he doesn’t want you too feel he is favoring other employees by stopping asking you?
@avidrunner2 I can appreciate that, but I wouldn't be bothered at all.

Tell him you like to eat alone

Does he ask male employees or just female?
@Fluffybull He does ask male colleagues as well.

@DreamyCrush I'd be fed up of constantly saying no! If staff are going out for lunch with him because they feel they can't say no, that's rather exploiting his position.
Sounds like harassment. Tell him no and if you want to go to lunch in future, you'll ask him. Save emails and go to HR. If he continues.

I'd ask you buying if he says no then I say I not got it he say yes I'd go

@Hanginginthere No, just extroverted. He's kind of the office cheerleader. Very nice man, just persistent to a fault.
