Housing shortage is why. Housing purposely limited by City planners therefore creating a demand. Limited housing includes hotels and such because areas are not zoned for it.

@DeWayfarer The only way you'd ever use it then would be if you wanted to go to some event and they ran out of hotel beds.

@PDXNative1986 exactly. It's a huge issue here because of the Coachella festival. Hundreds of Airbnb's here.
