Found an interesting poll about homelessness on The Hill website which I found a bit alarming. I find it alarming that 19% just don't care at all. It has over a million responses. Just wondering if you feel the same way?

One of the problems of homelessness is Drug Addiction, addicts can't get out of the trap I lost an old friend from school many years ago he didn't have a mean bone in his body, he got hooked on drugs and lost everything.

If only there was a better understanding and more medicines available to get people off drugs.

@senghenydd It's not the only losses.

A year and a half ago I lost my once nextdoor neighbor due homelessness. Like me he was USA vet. Never saw him do any drugs. He didn't deserve the treatment he got for his service in Nam. 😔

The VA really didn't care when I told them that he died.

@DeWayfarer I'm very sorry to hear about this it hurts when it's near to home like your neighbour next door.

In Britain there's not enough done to help Veterans, my Late Dad was a Vet from WW11 he had a bad war so I have experience in seeing him struggle.

@senghenydd My father was in prison camp during WWII in Czechoslovakia.

Bad is relative.

@senghenydd Drug addiction is an illness and needs to be treated as such😷

@DeWayfarer My Father was captured he was Eighth Army Royal Artillery his unit pulled the short straw and stayed behind as a Detachment to slow down the Germans as the Eighth Army (who were hopelessly out-gunned) fled across the Desert, Dad was a POW same as your Dad they endured harsh treatment.

@whowasthatmaskedman Yes it's an illness people fall into the Addiction trap and can't get out.
OldBrit · 61-69, M
@senghenydd medicines won't work in my experience it's about a psychic change in the addict.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@OldBrit Not enough is still known to say what works or not. Everyone is different.

My mother was a alcoholic until the day she died. Yet the horrors she went through where likely worse than my father. She was a gypsy during WWII. Saw her father shot. Lost two kids to starvation, plus two miscarriages after being operated on.

Records on gypies the Germans rarely keeped. I really shouldn't have been born because of that experimental surgery.

@OldBrit I don't where you live I live in the UK, I was watching a programme on Ytube there's a new drug in Canada which the addicts are hooked ON, the addicts are standing still like statues in the streets, it's many more times more addictive than heroine I hope it stays out of the UK.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@senghenydd Sounds like fentanyl. Really bad stuff.
senghenydd · M
@DeWayfarer Families are still getting over WW11 it haunted my late Dad until the day he died, he'd have nightmares about it, there was a shell fragment in his skull which was inoperable.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@senghenydd Same with both parents. I took care of both before they passed away.
senghenydd · M
@DeWayfarer Yes that's what it's called the YTubers showed these young Addicts simply standing up on the pavement like statues, there are more and more addictive drugs turning up on the streets ruining lives.

I met a chap from China living in the UK he told me straight Drug-Pushers are executed in China nobody talks about it they simply disappear. we don't have a drug problem in my country.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@senghenydd China is providing the chemicals to make fentanyl to Mexican drug lords. They are the ones pushing it on the whole western nations.

@DeWayfarer I looked after my parents to my late Mother was a Nurse working in Bristol the Hospital she was nursing in was destroyed whistst she was there, she ended up laying out the dead in the ruins, the hospital and the church across the road was completely destroyed, the ruins of the church still stand the Hospital was bulldozed.
senghenydd · M
@DeWayfarer OMG the only answer is to get tougher with these Drug-Pushers follow China's example.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@senghenydd My mom had three other older kids that nearly died as well. The closer they are to you the harder it is.
senghenydd · M
@DeWayfarer Yes I agree, my heart goes out to all the people around the world who are caught up in these terrible wars, they will pay the terrible price for years after these wars are over.
I have to leave you now it's been a great exchange of personal stories I have to go out on business, I have enjoyed talking to you.
Docdon23 · M

senghenydd · M
@Docdon23 Yes all we hear from Social Services is under-funding resources are stretched to the limit.
