You had to use people waiting outside of Home Depot for day jobs to build those mansions. But you never housed the population.

@jackrabbit10 sure, you weren't aiming at effective housing programs at all. In a city in Holland we watched the government build two high-rise apartment buildings with parks and a tram stop and a cafeteria, a kilometer of four lane street and bike paths adjacent - in eight weeks. People moved in in the next two weeks, E$300 a month was typical rent for a two bedroom... you don't want that. You pay more for less! I agree.

@Roundandroundwego sounds great. I have seen movies of Holland I think it would be a great place to live, I have never lived in a city ,lived in farm land all my life,

@jackrabbit10 yup, the apartments are a nice place to live, and they match the surrounding neighborhood. Farmland in Holland is beautiful. You can see it by bike and it's always nearby.
The Dutch government fell last week - they were planning to stop building such things and start arming for war. Now it's up in the air.
But Holland would be extremely bleak without nice planning.
