Also, a good tip for cleaning microwave: microwave a cup of water for about a minute. The condesation will soften the splashed food particles and wipes clean super easy.

@iamnikki: Great idea. I will try that on my brother's! His needs some major cleaning.
rosyhills · 31-35, F
@alohamom: yes. It works well.

@Oddnelly: me too
alohamom · F
@Oddnelly: Yes, I do the daily wipe down. But I don't always do the sides and under the wheel, etc...

super green is some amazing stuff ,,(can be bought at the dollar store )
just don't delute it, wear gloves ,do not breath fumes
and don't leave it on until it eats paint ,
it can make quick work out of tough jobs
it was created to take paint off engines and degrees them for rebuild
it even kills little bugs

@rckt148: I love that stuff! Thanks!

Everytime I clean up the kitchen I wipe down the inside of the microwave.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
Lol. My one positive attribute - cleaning. ;)
alohamom · F
@LadyBronte: You should come over and teach me...I hate cleaning and I'm determined to give my house a thorough cleaning this summer!!! Wish me luck! Ugh!!!

You'll be fine! Good luck!! :)

After each use. That's how you avoid an hour clean up

@alohamom: haha it's cute that you even used a toothpick ☺️☺️
alohamom · F
@sirjames: Yeah...that's why it took me so long!
SW-User
@alohamom: I bet 😂😂☺️

Those require cleaning 🤔
alohamom · F
@fun4us2b: Haha, good advice!
fun4us2b · M
@alohamom: Also, always keep a fire extinguisher in the kitchen!
alohamom · F
@fun4us2b: I tried to reheat tortilla chips with my leftovers....huge mistake! Wasn't quite fire extinguisher fire, but almost!

Whenever it looks like there is a creature in there.
alohamom · F
@kawasaki: Haha, yeah that's how my brother's is.

My sis told me that her toaster oven caught on fire becasue it had too much junk in the bottom of it.
StellaBlue · F
I don't have either...heheee...old fashion cooking on the stove and oven... :)
alohamom · F
@CheshyCat: Wow! I'd die without my microwave! I work and have to cook for my mom everyday. So leftovers are a lifesaver!
katielass · F
When it gets dirty.
katielass · F
@alohamom: do you heat a cup of water in it before you clean? That seems to kind of loosen stuff so it's easier to clean.
alohamom · F
@katielass: Thanks for the tip. The inside was clean, as I wipe it down regularly. Just disinfected it all and washed the glass and the outside. The toaster oven took more time. Thanks!
katielass · F
@alohamom: YW. I can imagine cleaning a toaster oven. yuk.
mrmoose · 70-79, M
🤔
ya gotta clean them?
alohamom · F
@mrmoose: Lol...I know, you'd think all that heat and rays would make it self-cleaning huh?!
mrmoose · 70-79, M
@alohamom: yes, indeed
KeasbeyNights · 31-35, M
I don't have either of those.
alohamom · F
@KeasbeyNights: Less to clean.
Where I need to the microwave don't have the other
rosyhills · 31-35, F
About weekly.
alohamom · F
@iamnikki: Yeah, I guess I have to do a thorough clean more often. Thanks.
3Dogmatic · 46-50, M
Microwaves are easy to clean. Put a bowl of water and dish soap in it and let it run on high for 4 minutes. Then just wipe the grime away. Easy peezy
alohamom · F
@3Dogmatic: Yes. I wipe the inside of my microwave regularly. I just gave it a thorough cleaning...under the wheel, disinfected it, cleaned the outside top, and sides. I didn't realize how it looks clean but it's greasy with kitchen buildup. Definitely not as difficult as my toaster oven was! I'm just complaining because I hate cleaning. Thanks for the tip!
3Dogmatic · 46-50, M
You are welcome! The soapy steam cuts the grease and sanitizes at the same time.
crystalkid · 56-60, T
I should do the microwave more often. The toaster oven every week, but it has a steam function, so I run that and just wipe it clean after
