My elevator lets me down. But it also lets me up. 🤣

@FrogManSometimesLooksBothWays That is some deep thinking right there. I need to step outside and meditate on this one

TurtlePink · F
lol . Sounds like my mom
HumanEarth · F
Even Maytag is not as good as it used to be. You have to look for the mechanical models without the fancy circuit boards and junk.

You want the shit that will last 50 to 80 years
Adrift · 61-69, F
What brand would you recommend?
PenguinPuncher33 · 36-40, MVIP
@Adrift depends on the appliance but the thing I’m having a hard time with is people repeating what didn’t work and expecting it to be different the second time

Also with any new appliance regardless of brand, buy the five year warranty. Its actually worth it these days
TheHammer · M
Where else are they going to go
PenguinPuncher33 · 36-40, MVIP
@TheHammer Costco? Lowe’s and Home Depot have a two day return policy. Costco has a 90 day return policy and free extended warranty’s. Seems like a no brainer
UKNaturist · M
To be fair, internet reviews and adverts can be misleading. I've just bought 2 ac units on the back of them appearing at the top of a review list. Reviews praised versatility and price and form and function. Advert said the unit would do precisely what I wanted it to do. They arrived yesterday and they're rubbish. The instructions that came with them even said that they would not one of the things the advert said it would

Is the quality genuinely worse generally, or are you seeing a lot of people who blame the appliances having not used them correctly, or expected more from them than specified? So go and damage them by ignorance?
Adrift · 61-69, F
@ArishMell Nah the ones you buy now are junk.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Adrift Ah, I see! Corners cut to reduce the production costs...
Rolexeo · 31-35, M
They're forced to, nothing lasts like it used to
DDonde · 36-40, M
I understand this frustration but with HP printers
thisguy20 · 46-50, M
@DDonde The great irony with the HP printers is that I have a HP DesignJet500, which after 20 years and having had a couple miles of paper go through it, is still going strong
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
Part of it in my opinion is people are brand loyal and or don’t like change.
PenguinPuncher33 · 36-40, MVIP
@MrBrownstone That actually makes sense. I’ve met a lot of elderly people who have owned only GE for decades and have no idea that GE hasn’t been part of General Electric for ten years which happens to be about when their quality took a shit
They probably can’t afford good or even know what that means when seeking them out.
candycane · 36-40, F
same with phones and phone providers ,t mobile,Verizon ,etc..
PenguinPuncher33 · 36-40, MVIP
@candycane valid point
