I like 'lived in' and relaxed, but worry about unclean surfaces and dirty crockery lying around well after a meal has been consumed. I have to work past that to see the people in all their complexity.

Used to visit a man that was very lonley, I’d pop in for a cup of tea…he’d take used tea bags that he’d squish against the tiles above the sink and then reuse them and make tea for me in a stained cup. It was gross but I felt sorry for him….

@InterdimensionalSideEye That's commitment. I have done that kind of visiting and a tip I picked off professionals is that in these circumstances, always politely refuse 'because I just had one before arriving'. That way you avoid sickness.
