I live in my own house. It's old, it doesn't have all those modern convenience gadgets, it's more like your grand-parents' house used to be, but hey, it's mine 🥰

@helenS My mother, who would be over 100 now, her place had more than twice what I have now. And she wasn't even middle class. A factory worker. Yeah she owned her new house and I don't own my old place. I had made more than five times her hourly wage when she retired. At that time.

Today's housing in the same area is literally 30 times the costs. Probably more. A single persons minimum wage income could buy a new house back then. On one 40 hour per week job.

Mom never had a credit card either in her whole life. Women rarely had credit cards in the 60 and 70s. Much less the poor.

You can't buy a house today without good credit, much less no credit. Oh unless you have $960,000 cash. That's the average new house here BTW.
