Gas leak in mums house

Basically there was a gas leak in my mums house a few month's ago and she got lucky because it could have been so much worse but she didn't notice the smell my younger sister noticed but my mum kept dismissing it. It wasn't until my older sister came over that she actually phoned the gas man it was a big leak and i was soooooo angry that my mum kept dismissing it when everyone could have died if it blew

I'm very glad that it was isolated and hopefully now repaired. I've also had a gas leak at home and it is scary if you don't know what to do. Mine was only small which made it hard to detect. When it finally got inspected it was found to have been installed both incorrectly and more worryingly passed a gas safety certificate! Needless to say I got the whole system thoroughly inspected by a gas safe plumber who had been working for a long time. Defects were corrected and new certs issued.

If anyone is reading this please remember to get out and call the gas emergency number. Only if safe to do so isolate the gas supply at the meter and open windows so any gas can disperse.

Did you know that gas is actually odourless. The smell is added to it to help identify leakages!
You guys were lucky. When in the slightest doubt about leakage, always open windows and take out the cylinder to open space. 👍

@WandererTony Agree completely. Can never be too careful when gas is involved
