Anyone have a heat pump?

I'm considering swapping my AC for one. It will work to heat the house instead of just the gas furnace. Might save a few months of gas. I hear that the Trane and American standard ones are the best. Anyone run into anything with them? Noise is a problem with some of them

had one in my old house. didn't make any more noise than a central ac unit

it works pretty well except when the temperature drops into the 30s or lower

then it has trouble capturing enough heat and you have to use the electric heat strips - which essentially becomes an electric heat system and is more expensive.

so it all depends on how cold and how long your winters are
