Essential maintenance only!

Throughout the pandemic, I didn't want maintenance strangers in my tiny apartment, and they didn't want to be there.

But in two years, this already aged place began to deteriorate (I can relate). Just before covid came to the party, a pipe burst in the bathroom wall and they had to smash out a 3-ft sq section of the stucco and lathe to repair it. Guy said - "we'll let that dry out for a week or two and then plaster it back up."

Didn't happen.

The chain on the flushing dooflicker in the toilet broke and for more than a year I had to take off the lid and pull on the piece of remaining chain to flush.

Then the sink (the only sink) stopped up. I bought a collapsible tub for dishes and hand laundry and got on with the lockdown festivities.

Finally last week, I asked the apartment manager to address these issues. Then we got a lot of rain and roofs sprung leaks every-darn-where. Maintenance was as busy as Starbucks in the morning.

At long last the guy came to fix the toilet which is just grand. I no longer have blue hands from the toilet tank drop-in cleaner.

Then, after at least six months, the sink was no longer stopped up! I don't know why. Maybe the rain flushed it out.

I texted the manager with a gentle reminder. "The sink is draining perfectly. 🤷‍♀️ Do you think if we give it another year, the bathroom wall will heal itself?"

As soon as I'm out of covid quarantine, they're gonna fix the wall.

I haven't had the heart to tell her the microwave died and the air conditioner has labored breathing.
Yet you are surviving.
Praise the Lord.
@sspec Yes. Many things are wonderfully convenient but not "essential."
