I'm thinking of saving up for a deposit on an apartment in the next couple of years

Considering house prices in the UK are at cartoon levels I may as well just buy an apartment. I've figured I could put 10 stacks down and pay less mortgage than I am for rent atm for a smaller place. Obviously though I'm holding out for a while and need to save, but it'd also be easier to just meet someone and share the renting costs without the burden and then do the same thing for a better place if we have a kid.
