Will acrylic paint on a wood surface rub off on clothes?

I bought barstools for real cheap on FB marketplace.
They need work, which is fine, they were cheap.

Can I use acrylic paint to patch up the chipping wood? or should I get real paint? Problem is, I'm in an apartment and I don't have a balcony.

Also, What about wood stain...for the seat part?
It has scratches but I couldn't pass them up for just 10 bucks apiece.

If it is small touch ups you can use a paint pen for furniture

@MrBrownstone This is what I’d recommend. They have ones specifically to match different wood stains and they work better than you’d think. Picked some up last weekend and now my heirloom secretary desk looks new.
