I see something I need on Facebook marketplace.

Problem is, they have no profile picture (only a flower) and 4 friends.

I'd certainly take someone with me but my question is, should I ask the person to post a picture of themselves or move on to someone else who has common sense?

People don't have to post a photo of themselves to sell on Facebook marketplace. I actually have 2 Facebook pages. The one with my profile picture, I do not sell things on. I only sell on the one without my profile picture or my real name. Why? Because I don't want some creep getting upset and posting shit about me just in case they didn't like something about the product. I sell on Facebook all the time and I've never had anyone ask me to post a picture. That's kina insane.

@LoveTriumphsOverHate it's not insane to want to see who one will be meeting to make a purchase from.

@iamnikki Yes, I understand that you're cautious, but that's not the way it works, Nikki. When you buy a product from Facebook or Ebay, what matters is the quality of the product. And really, it doesn't matter if the person has a picture up or not, the product can still be damaged. That's why you have to examine the product before you buy it. Just because a person has a profile picture up doesn't mean that person isn't a psycho either. Hell, the photo they have up could be fake. You are taking a chance either way.

So, Okay, as far as safety, Yeah, I get your point. That kind of profile -with no pics and little friends could indicate that it's a fake profile, or maybe maybe they have their photos hidden because they don't want them public. Either way, a lot of people who sell on Facebook Marketplace do not show their profile picture, and I don't see why they should have to. You will see the person in public when you meet them, and you can examine the product then.

Now, if it's an electronic product or something you have to take home to examine, what you do is tell them to take a video of the product and show that it works before you meet up, unless you find a place to plug it in when you buy it.
