Why dads are so against pets?

I really need to get a pet for my mental health's sake, but my dad doesn't like anything furry in the house. :(

Well they can shed and chew up stuff. But that is for like cats and dogs. Hamsters or cage pets would avoid a lot of that. So the reason could vary.

@canusernamebemyusername I asked for hamster or guinea pigs before and he denied. But I want a cat now.

@WonderfulOne I'm not a fan of big pets myself. I like small cute ones. Lol
