Is it wrong to keep your pet bird in cages?

I had a pet cockatiel which I used to keep in cages only when I was out for work or at night. He died in a freak accident just because I was not too careful when he was out of the cage. But then, I feel it was wrong to keep a bird in a cage all the time if I get another one?

But still no accident happened .

@valobasa4ever she must have lots of time with the bird. I am a full time employee plus I live with my autistic brother who's afraid of birds which is why my bird died.

@JBird No, she is STILL working with few NGO's .
But she loves Bird a lot .
