Most likely just a blown fuse.
morrgin · F
@Sicarium so just replace it? Would it be a blown fuse though if one of the bedrooms that had no power had the light suddenly flicker when we plugged something in from another room?
Wiiiiiiiiii · 51-55, M
@Sicarium houses haven’t been wired with fuses since the 50s so unless hers is very old that is highly unlikely
NeuroticByNature · 41-45, F
@Wiiiiiiiiii some around here still have them.

Call an electrician and touch nothing.. Sounds like your wiring is giving out.

I'm an electrical engineer and I work for the electric utility. Most of the answers you received are totally wrong.

First, check your circuit breakers to see if any have tripped.

If not, how much of your house is affected? If it's approximately half of your house, the problem is most likely with your electric service coming into the house.

Are any of your neighbors having a similar problem?

Call your electric utility and report the problem. It sounds like it's their problem and not yours.

@Bob25 it was a wall outlet gone bad in the family room. The entire house is wired wrong. For a long time the person who lived here did his own wiring. He had almost everything going to one breaker. A lot of the outlets we have are really old and loose.
Bob25 · 41-45, M
That's not good. You should get that fixed

Sounds like a loose neutral in the breaker panel. Call an electrician ASAP
morrgin · F
@Wiiiiiiiiii we got one coming this evening.
morrgin · F
It was a wall outlet gone bad.
TexChik · F
@morrgin Thats what I thought it would be. Darn thing!
MarineBob · 56-60, M
@morrgin thanks for the update
@morrgin we have that problem pretty often. I don't know why people think outlets in the floor is a good idea.
Dshhh · M
you may have lost a circuit breaker, can you find your breaker box?
the breaker may gave given out, or you Most Likly, had too much plugged into that circuit.
if you open the box, you might see one of the big scary switched is not "On" go unplug things from thedead zone, especially heaters.
the turn that switch back on, if it stays on? your all good.
if it pops of again, you need a new breaker switch
Synyster · 51-55, M
You got some electrical problems. Call an electrician.
Tonydang · M
I’m guessing rodents have chewed threw some of your electrical wiring the little shits like wiring I hope I’m wrong for your sake
morrgin · F
@Tonydang me too. It already pulled out all our insulation in the floor.
Tonydang · M
Bloody hell the little fella was bloody busy 😳😳😳
morrgin · F
@Tonydang not that little
TexChik · F
Check your GFCI plugs and reset them...
Joker · 36-40, M
Depends on your service type. It's most likely the main but there have been cases that the meter logs on one pole rot out
Dshhh · M
, might be a short in the wiring yeah, over load burned out a breaker
MarineBob · 56-60, M
reset your gfi outlets
morrgin · F

NeuroticByNature · 41-45, F
