Indeed. My last neighbor had 7 dogs that barked day and night at anything, everything and nothing. He was not willing to listen to reason. He was the kind of man I refer to as a neanderthal.

@Wraithorn When I was a teen living in the country our closest neighbors started collecting dogs (to make money they thought, they'd get free dogs from newspaper ads and sell some of them as pure breed dogs) and other animals. Their goats would get out and chew down all of the landscaping plants...they had approximately 120 dogs that were spreading distemper (my sister had a collie dog and it had babies, pretty fat puppies and they all died of distemper, they were too young to vaccinate, the mama collie didn't die because she had vaccinations), cats, pigs, a cow, chickens, etc. The dogs would howl night and day anytime a car would drive down the road...Neighbors called various agencies and no one wanted to do anything cause it was a rural area....finally a police office bought a house across from these people. He made one call to the dog pound and they came out and rounded up all the dogs they could fit in their caged truck, 35 or so...showing signs of mange or distemper and hauled them off. Those people, and I don't know how they did it so quickly, were packed up and moved within one week...including the remaining animals. These people who could not keep their home and land clean worked so fast to get out of there. First time in over two years I slept through the night, had insomnia that long.

@cherokeepatti Wow, that takes the cake. 120 dogs ? >£¿}¥®%¢&X !!!
Thank goodness you got that sorted eventually.
I was also living in a rural area which was beautifully peaceful and quiet. I could hear a cow mooing a mile away. Until neanderthal man moved in next door. ☺

@Wraithorn Well even though it is rural land it is within the city limit (the city annexed a lot of rural land because of a lake that was being built so they could sales tax any businesses that were built in the area). After they rounded up the dogs the city passed a law making a limit of 4 adult dogs or cats in any household, unless the homeowner had a kennel license, and then it can be inspected on a regular basis or if there are complaints by neighbors . And now you have to pay $15 each cat or dog for an annual permit and you have to have rabies vaccinations before you can get the permit. If you have a dog running lose and the police or animal control gets involved you can get fined $100 for letting it get loose and $100 (each animal) for not having a permit.

@cherokeepatti Good. Some laws exist for good reason. That's just unfortunate for responsible poor people who can't afford that kind of money.
