My father and his father
I’m not going to talk about or reveal my father’s name but his father was named Demyan. Where my father farmed the land, keeping livestock as a primary means of income, my grandfather had this as a secondary source and manufactured wooden furniture, working for a local collective who supplied the western towns with good quality furniture 🪑 for homes, even exporting some of the furniture to both Romania and Slovakia.
My father was as good with wood but because of the 1991 changes in our national identity he didn’t keep his job, but used the skills his father had taught him for home use. Livestock, and the wool production company he set up was the best place for accruing income and the monies that helped me in my studies. My brother was a good carpenter too, but his technology qualification helped him ultimately as a soldier until his death in 2025.
