Certainly not. That is extremely dangerous.
My room is never completely dark. There is a low-level green glow from the bedside radio/alarm; but the night sky is always visible.
The sky is brightest when heavily overcast, by diffused street-lamp light reflected from the low clouds.
The house is perhaps brightest during a full Moon as it faces South without anything to obstruct the Moon once it has risen by even a fairly low angle.
