Is My Work From Home Job Micro Managing?

I work at a technical support call center but it's specialized because it's a combination between technical support and biomedical equipment so it you have to have medical knowledge and some IT knowledge and some engineering knowledge.
I have have had the job a few months and I hate it partly because of micromanagement which is probably inherent to working in call centers.
But I thought to myself well at least if I have to work at other places sparingly here and there I can do that and that will be a pretty cool feature of this job well recently they just published information that if we want to work away from home it should be for a maximum of 2 weeks and we have to request permission in advance and it will be provided on a case-by-case basis depending on how good our metrics have been in the past.


Is that micromanagement to the extreme??

I consider that an upper-management operational preference, rather than micromanagement. The rationale behind that might be open for discussion and perhaps being on-site or remote has little bearing on your ability to do your job. But it's how they want to run the place.

Micromanagement to me is a manage giving me a task and rather than letting me run with it and deliver, is constantly wanting updates, looking over my shoulder, etc.

I spent 40 years in high-tech. Much of the latter half was working remotely (from home). The only rule was I had to come in very 2 weeks for planning meetings. Some issues and software test challenges required on-site. But my bosses were "Here's task, go do it, talk to me when you're done". Aside from Agile Scrum project management "daily standup meetings".
