I have a brand new development going up across the street from me.

It’s a Pulte Homes build. The things I’ve seen these builders do? I wouldn’t buy one of these homes at gun point! Word to the wise, if you’re buying a new build anywhere in America, hire an independent home inspector before you commit!

You’re not wrong. My stepdad was a small contractor, so I grew up helping him build custom houses and home addition. He took great pride and care in building things right, and building them to last. I carried those lessons into my 38+ year career as a Structural Engineer. When I see homes built by the large commercial home builders, I’m appalled by the lack of quality, attention to detail, and poor construction practices. I’m also left wondering how they passed inspection.
