What's your laundry routine?

Mine goes something like this:

Day 1: Throw in washer and let run for 50-60 minutes.

Day 1 to Day 2: Remove from washer when I remember, throw in dryer for about an hour.

Day 2 to 3: Remove from dryer when I remember, put in "to be folded" stack on a chair, couch, table or other available surface.

Day 3 to 21: Grudgingly fold and stack by type. Leave stacked for a day or two, then put away... mostly though, the stack is half gone cuz I've had to wear the wrinkled mess in the meantime.
Day 1: Walk down two flights of stairs with the laundry baskets and congratulate myself for not falling or dropping anything.
DAY 1: Wash one load, forget about it until the end of day one. Rewash same load because it smells funny.
Day 2: Wake yup and remember that I never put laundry in the dryer. Rewash again. Put in dryer, add new load to the washer. Go get clothes, walk back up two flights of stairs. fold, hang and get angry about it because I hate doing this so much. Forget second load is in the wash till much too late. Throw in dryer. Wait till day 3 to carry, fold and put away. Decide not do to any more laundry until I have to.

@nonsensiclesnail You are so much more organized than me, but our "not do any more laundry until I have to" routine matches😜
@Ontheroad If I dont put it away right away, my husband mixes dirty clothes into the clean. And then I get angry. Im not sure if Im mad at him or me. Its not a willing organization. Its only because I have to.

Simple - call daughter to turn on washing machine when Mrs Kelly is on holidays with youngest son and grandchildren
Ontheroad · M
@nedkelly Well crap! You've got all the bases covered. Smart man.

1. Put a load in wash for 1.5hrs.
2. Put washed clothes in dryer.
3. If I remember, take clothes out and store in baskets for days.
4. If I remember, fold, sort and put away.

The whole process is done in about 2 hours. Toss it in washer to run through a cycle, put in dryer for 60 minutes, when the buzzer goes off fold it and put it away.
Ironing? That might take a while. Most stuff doesn't need it and the shirts/pants that do get hung in the closet. When I am going to need one will do the whole batch.

@bowman81 Show off. 🤣

@Ontheroad I absolutely hate it.....just want to get it over with. Kinda like the gal in drivers training who hit the gas every time she went around a corner....they scared her she wanted to hurry up and get through them.
It’s an every Saturday evening and/or Sunday morning routine, depending upon the load.

Also part of my Sunday routine is a thorough cleaning of my refrigerator (disposing stuff, spray cleaning shelves n drawers etc) 🤭
😆 ignore me….I’m a borderline OCD ….like even years before the pandemic, I used to buy big bottles of hand sanitizer for my home. 😅🙈@Ontheroad
Ontheroad · M
@Vivaci Whew! Just for a moment I thought it might be me! It's okay though... borderline nuts is okay with me! 🤣
🤭 Good good …..all’s good then….phew! 😅 @Ontheroad

Any reasons why you use an electric dryer? 🤨
Ontheroad · M
@helenS Yep, I'm don't have to keep track of clothes pins which I always lose or break and then am stuck using the dryer anyway.
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@helenS That's what a wind powered solar dryer is. A clothes line. LOL.
helenS · 36-40, F
@KiwiBird Oohh! 🤭

Its usually a 2-3 hour routine....once i get started.... most times i have a clothing load and a towels/bedding load

Clothing load is wash.....dry..... fold...put away.... this is usually done on Sunday evening/nights so i start the week off with no dirty clothes :-) I have to do it all immediately when i start simply because i HATE putting on CLEAN wrinkled clothes

Towels and Beddings .... these are usually done during the week as they are easier but same process....
Routine? 😆 There’s clean piles and dirty piles.
Ontheroad · M
@BrokenAbyss Finally, a sensible person! I knew someone had a better non-routine.
@Ontheroad As long as I’m clean, it’s all good 😆

Monday I wash my work clothes, wednesday towels etc and friday all sheets are changed. Not much laundry is generated since we stay bare at home. Most everything is air dried. Helps with the electricity bill.
Wash and dry same day
Fold/stuff away at some point in the next week when washing basket is needed again. Necessity is truly the mother of invention
calicuz · 56-60, M
When I was single I used to have to go to the laundromat so I had to do it all at once. I wanted to die every time.
helenS · 36-40, F
@calicuz Aahhh yes – the days of the laundromat... I remember those when I was a student. I didn't have enough money to wash differently colored clothes separately, so everything assumed the same horrible lavender color after a while, socks, shirts, everything. I was the Lady in Lavender... 😏

Color of helenS'es white panties
You’re funny….That’s what retired folk do….my mom, for example 😄

@Vivaci We learn to amuse ourselves. 😉
@Ontheroad Rightly so. 🤗

Toss dirty clothes in the hamper and wait for them to magically show up clean in my dresser or closet.

One month laundry? lol
SW-User
Right now, the whites are still sitting in the washer which I put there the other day. I rewashed it today. I'll dry them tomorrow and fold them the next day. Five days for me. 😂
Nanori · F
Once a week, load the washer, set it on 10 mins, throw them in the dryer for 2 mins, hang them, fold them
Takes no more than 2 hours 🙂
Ontheroad · M
@Nanori Hmmm, another sane person. I'll never get there.🥴
dontbekoi · 36-40, F
I do laundry on Mondays and Fridays. My dryer sings me a song when it's done so I fold and hang relatively quickly. Iron on Sundays 🙂
Wiseacre · F
Every Sunday!

Day, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 put laundry in maybe 2 washes per day, there's 5 of us, so it's never ending
Ontheroad · M
@SW-User I might have to commit Harakiri... or hire in help. 😁
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
I wash it and put it all away in the same day
