I watched two movies yesterday to mark the occasion…

I'd be more into THE QUIET MAN or LUCK OF THE IRISH.

The Quiet Man: an exceptional movie. Were the two great friends - John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara - ever better?

The Quiet Man
A heartwarming story of two Irishmen who become the best of friends.
But only after they beat the living s**t outa each other. Everyone in that cast is perfect.

Darby O' Gill and the Little People is another classic worthy St. Patrick's viewing.

Yes! That John Ford pic has it all. I think McLaglen was actually a boxer early on... and Wayne being a college football player made the fight scenes extra special and believable.

Damned if I haven't got Darby O! Also starring Sean Connery... bonus :)
@ChipmunkErnie I can’t stand John Wayne. The other movie sounds interesting, though.

@bijouxbroussard It's one of Wayne's best. LUCK OF THE IRISH seems to be one that most people don't know.
@ChipmunkErnie Of the two I chose, The Nephew has become my favorite, with a lot of Irish character actors, including the late, great Donal McCann. I hadn’t seen The Devil’s Own until I watched it with a friend originally from the area. She chuckled at Brad’s accent but said, "eh, close enough !"
