What am I suppose to do with that suitcase full of US Dollars I found in a wheelbarrow then? Does that stuff compost well, do you know?

@swirlie Buy Canadian pharmaeuticals. You will be able to make a killing (no pun intended) selling them to rich Americans who cant get insulin, BP Meds and those nice blue pills the old men like. (Always sell to the rich. The poor cant afford the price. And take payment in gold..)😷

The Germans didn't have as much chaos in 1923 as is depicted in this gloom scenario, and they had recently lost a world war. 🙄
But as you said, Kemo Sabe, it probably won't be as bad as depicted.
Happy New Year.

@Thinkerbell Right. It did. Until they kept on printing it and sent it the same way as the Mark..Remind you of any more recent currencies?😷

@whowasthatmaskedman
No, the Rentenmark (backed by agricultural and commercial real estate) was in use for about one year, when it was largely replaced by the Reichsmark, which was backed by gold, and officially maintained at about 4 marks to the dollar, both the Reichsmark and Rentenmark continued to circulate until 1948, when both were replaced by the Deutsche Mark, still at the same exchange rate. There was no significant inflation (despite large deficit spending for re-armament) due to draconian wage and price controls, and certainly no inflation on the scale of that of the early 20s.

@Thinkerbell You are correct. I withdraw that statement. For some reason I have the Rentenmark confused with some other situation. It is probably the original mark I was thinking of.. The Rentenmark was vulnerable in that it was not backed by gold, as you correctly state.. But the Reichsmark was backed by gold. But refreshing my memory, it seems connecting the currency being backed by gold with a later Depression might be a stretch..The $US was also backed by gold at this time and the speculative nature of an unregulated boom/bust cycle in the share market , particularly striking a severely weakened German economy had their economy even weaker than the rest of the western markets..😷

They have been talking about the collapse of the dollar, empty store shelves, famine, pestilence, banks closing, mark of the beast, fire falling from the sky, the grid shutting down, trade problems, the Rapture, WW3, the planet flipping it's axis, etc for decades.
Or my favorite one - "The world has no clue what is coming."
Yeah it has been coming for over 100 years.
Of course they have all this compelling evidence of "what is about to happen" and nothing really does.
The part about "Sue sun rising from the West" cause the world turned upside down - THAT one has all the charm of a small child saying, "I wish the whole world would blow up!" I used to say that when I was five.

@whowasthatmaskedman Well, things go back and forth, it is planned. Expansions, peak, recession, and sometimes depression - it is all planned, it doesn't happen by accident.

Religion wants you to worry. Without fear, it ceases to exist. Political parties are no different. It’s the same with the algorithms running your Facebook and news feeds, e.g.
All that worrying is such a waste of actual life and happiness. I just don’t get it.
Well my point is we shouldn't sit around worrying about what we have no control over.

@HoeBag You are partly right. It doesnt happen by accident. It happens because people cant keep their fingers off the economic scales, either through greed, or to "correct" something that isnt going there way.. Like printing money. or cutting taxes..😷

BTW there's already not enough banks for the scenario in your video to happen.
Everything is electronic. Bitcoin is not on the stock exchange either nor any other Non Fungable Coins.
This is thinking behind the current times.

@DeWayfarer Sure. Fusion is the Holy grail of power generation. As the silicone chip was the Holy Grail of computing. But its a long way off, if its ever practical. Right now the first rule is to create the illusion that tricks the laws of physics into thinking that a tiny mass is as big as the sun and keeping it stable..😷
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@whowasthatmaskedman You are behind the times on this as well as the economy.
Google will not lose. Musk might, yet not Google. The whole world will go if Google loses on this.

@DeWayfarer Maybe. I will look at it. I do have some respect for google. As opposed to the other two..

Just nonsense
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Ferise1 Sorry... Exactly what part of the world do you claim is stable? To keep bailing the ship of the US economy and keep it afloat for 50 years has built up an international debt of approaching $40 trillion and had America involved in over a dozen small conflicts taking thousands of American lives and countless others. Is that the price of stability?😷
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
@whowasthatmaskedman I bet you 1000 bucks everything’s gonna be fine
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Ferise1 OK.. Irony.. I didnt see that coming.. Well done.. 😷
