Thinking of others might change your perspective a bit? Voluntary work with people who have disabilities but still want to enjoy life as best they can. Visiting those in hospital? There are ways to take our mind off our own miseries if we try hard enough.
Shift focus away from yourself and practice self compassion and gradually rebuild joy and purpose. It isn't impossible. Been there, done that.
@Havie great idea ...however i did every kind of volunteer work that there is and i got the same thing. people who thought that they knew everything and didn't want your opinion or questions or help. then the people that you are actually helping end up being terrorists or insane otherwise .then there are the thieves and the perverts.

i wanted to end homelessness because the way they help people now is nuts and backwards...but even though my ideas are sound....people act like i am the crazy one. well my ideas have worked and theirs don't work at all. so then i got married and i don't talk to anyone unless i have to.
@LILY61 What are your ideas about helping the homeless?
@SomeMichGuy you never give a homeless person money. everyone i have spoken to thinks that is a great idea...wrong! they each need to be fixed. if you give them money they will blow it all on something stupid or horrible and then they are back to square one.

they need to be fixed...medically, then check for instabilities( mental impairment or addictions that caused their problems), then gotten a home and furniture and send them to school if need be...food....clothes...then what ever else they need. sometimes they just need a home and food and a job.

it would be costly , but if you hand them money and expect them to fix themselves....you are wasting everybody's time and money.

There should be a place in every city that brings them in and evaluates them.

i think your new years resolution should be to think more positive, it makes a difference, thinking negative all the time will take you down into a pit of darkness, and you don't want to be there.
@greenknight i tried to make a difference and was destroyed. i will sit back and hope others will take the reigns

I don't do those. I already failed with what I promised myself in September. If I want to have something done, I have to get up in the moment and start immediately.

@LILY61 That I would be actively searching for a job abroad to be able to get out of here.
@CrazyMusicLover take me with you
