what's new with you?

I started a job part time.
Some of you knew my adult daughter is on the autism spectrum and has been working on independence it looks like she'll be flying the nest sometime this year.
Hence the job.
My husband and I have been enjoying our two grand beauties, taking day trips, and sleeping in on days we are not working.
Doing pretty badly at my diabetic diet since my sister-in-law died this summer and I'm having a hard time getting back into the routine of disciplined eating.
I start and fail mostly.
Not gorging on sweets, but too many frozen meals since working and take outs.
My anxiety is the same.
My house lost its gutter and overhang on the front porch due to our lovely MI weather.
However,it will soon be fixed.
It's actually worse now,but to lazy to.take a pic.
Anyway hope this new year has been good to you so far

I am so sorry to hear about your sister-in-law.

I also am trying to get more disciplined about my sugar intake. I am pre-diabetic, and I don't want things to get worse.

Our daughter moved to Florida this year, and in early January we went to visit her and her family for the first time since the move. It's a bit different from Duluth, where they used to live! But I miss having them all relatively nearby.

We don't have gutter problems, but we did recently have the roof redone.

And today, while walking to work, I slipped and fell on the ice. Yay!

I'll be sore for a while.

Happy New Year!

@DrWatson Be careful out there!

It will be strange when she's gone.
I gotta let go,though.

@Justmeraeagain It's bittersweet, I know. Especially knowing you had worked with her to get her ready for that day, and then....it happens.

Will she still be nearby?
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@DrWatson yeah ,she'll be in the same town as us and she's just looking at apartments now she hasn't found one yet.
She is learning the bus system here and she's been going to a clubhouse where people hang out and she's doing some job training.

@Justmeraeagain About two years ago, at my brother-in-law's funeral, I met his sister's son, who is autistic. I got into a long discussion with him about old movies, which obviously is one of his intense interests. (And an interest of mine as well.) And....he has been working at a movie theater! As he put it, "I'm happy as a clam!"
