I Love New Year's Eve
Some of my fondest memories of New Years Eve are those spent with my dad. We enjoyed drinking Tom and Jerrys (I had egg nog) and watching Guy Lombardo on TV.
I will never forget the very first New Years Eve I wasn’t going to be spending with my dad. It was 1969, going on ‘70; I was twelve years old; our next-door neighbor asked if I would baby-sit so that she and her husband could go out for New Years.
I was kind of excited because our neighbor had cable TV, so I was going to have a wide variety of things to watch after I got the kids to bed. However, it didn’t quite work out the way I’d planned. It was about 11pm and I heard a little tap, tap, tap at the front door. I asked who was there and I heard a voice say “It’s daddy!” I opened the door and there stood my dad holding a sack with the ingredients for our New Years drinks. He said, “I didn’t want you to miss Guy Lombardo.” Needless to say, dad and I had a very nice New Years Eve together and it is a memory that I will always cherish.
I wish everyone here at Similar Worlds a very Happy New Year.
