What is Easter called in Ukraine?🇺🇦

Easter is called Velykden (Великдень) in Ukraine, which translates to "The Great Day". It is one of the most significant religious holidays in the country, celebrated with a blend of Christian traditions and ancient, cultural, and spiritual customs.

Key aspects of Ukrainian Easter include:
Paska: A traditional, rich, and often decorated Easter bread.
Pysanky: Intricately designed, wax-painted Easter eggs, which are a quintessential part of the celebration.
Krashenky: Hard-boiled eggs painted a solid color (often red) that are blessed and eaten, sometimes used in traditional "egg knocking" (knocking) games to see whose egg is strongest.
Easter Basket: Families prepare a special basket filled with food (like paska, butter, cheese, sausage, and eggs) and take it to church to be blessed.
Greeting: People greet each other with "Khrystos voskres!" (Christ is risen!), to which the response is "Voistynu voskres!" (He is risen indeed!).

While Velykden is the traditional name, many Ukrainians also refer to the holiday as Pascha, similar to other Orthodox traditions.
