Is this bragging about Christmas?

I saw this post scrolling through my Facebook feed. Basically it says you should think before posting pictures of your full Christmas tree.

You should take into consideration the people who aren’t as lucky.

How do you feel about this message? Do you think people should stay humble and not share their joy or is this in the spirit of jealousy and we are just coddling people by not posting?

Tell me your thoughts.

Looking at the photo, I'd say it was less about the tree and more about the presentation of conspicuous consumption and wealth represented by all those gifts spreading far and wide across the floor. It is distasteful, rather than offensive. Imagine that photo without the gifts, but just showing the beautiful tree. It would appear in a completely different context. It's not the tree that's the issue.

@Richard65 it’s not about the tree. That’s exactly what I posted about…..

@iamonfire696 you wrote: "Basically it says you should think before posting pictures of your full Christmas tree."

I replied to say I didn't think it was about the tree, because your own wording suggested that was the focus of the complaint.

@Richard65 Did you read the caption on the picture? I didn’t think I would have to write the text out again because it’s there….

@iamonfire696 yes, I read it, but your question in relation to the photo focused on the image of the Christmas Tree. You specifically mentioned it, so I naturally assumed you were referencing images of decorated Christmas Trees, not the gifts beneath them. You might have written, "Basically it says you should think before posting pictures of huge amounts of Christmas gifts".
Apologies for the misunderstanding.
