Is this bragging about Christmas?

I saw this post scrolling through my Facebook feed. Basically it says you should think before posting pictures of your full Christmas tree.

You should take into consideration the people who aren’t as lucky.

How do you feel about this message? Do you think people should stay humble and not share their joy or is this in the spirit of jealousy and we are just coddling people by not posting?

Tell me your thoughts.

This is interesting. Theoretically on Facebook we know the people in our network and so we should know whether anyone would feel left out by our posts, and whether anyone is in serious need.
But of course in practice our social media networks extend beyond people we actually know.
If we were going to be considerate as suggested here it would rule out all those photos of great restaurant meals or even lavish home cooking too, because many people can hardly afford the basics.

This does raise big questions about what social media is for and what our connections with people are like.

@SW-User For myself I don’t look at people on Facebook and feel jealousy for the things they have.

It was a friend that posted that and I thought it was crazy. Don’t look at the pictures then 🤷🏼‍♀️.
