Have you started Christmas shopping yet (Athena started it 🤣)?

@BrokenAbyss I usually do too, but this year I decided to give gifts... and I'll probably still make candles to give as gifts, but the shopping part is done!

I've been where you are - parents long gone, nobody special in my life and it was sad until I decided to adopt a less fortunate family and give them gifts for their children. Sometimes we need to pick up our broken selves and make it better all on our own.

@Ontheroad This reminds me of when my mom died. It was my first year without her for Easter and the first year my children were without a grandma... she was their only one.
Somehow, we ended up at a free Easter dinner at a community center. Some older women started helping my little children and saying they would be their grandmas. Maybe those grandmas had picked up their broken selves and made things better. We never forgot that even though it's well over 20 years ago.
You make a difference.

@Ontheroad I mean to do that the past few years but I hate to be around people when I want to be miserable haha

@SW-User Love this story! Sometimes it the small things we do that make a huge difference in the lives of others. Every year since I adopted that family I've found at least one someone to do something for at Christmas. Even if it didn't make a huge difference in their life, it makes my life just that much better.
