Worst Holiday I Have Ever Had
I was thinking recently about the worst Holiday I ever had, this happened when I was sixteen years old I was in the Engineering Training school a place I would be stay for two of my four years serving an Engineering Apprenticeship, six of us Apprentices decided to book a holiday to Spain we were only young lads sadly we were taken advantage of.
The Travel Agent doesn't exist now maybe they merged with another company I don't know I never followed their history all I can say is I put the terrible experience behind my for many years. We arrived at Rhoose Airport outside Cardiff and flew to Spain then took a coach to the hotel where we were told at the reception there was a problem, we had booked three separate rooms with balconies and Air Conditioning Units apparently the Hotel had over-booked we should at this point took the next plane home we didn't being young lads, we accepted a Storeroom with two small windows 5" height by 14" long the heat was unbearable especially at night. I contacted the British Consulate who travelled sixty miles to see for himself, he was disgusted, the tour representative made excuses the hotel Manager said we would be refunded our holiday and so weren't entitled to an Air Conditioner.
After a time we were all ill with the heat and fighting one another we had argued with the Travel Rep a number of times and were lent an Air Conditioner which was only to be used for a few hours a day some of us were really ill I eventually contacted the Spanish Police who at first weren't very nice, apparently they don't like being bothered however they did see for themselves and forced the Hotel Manager to provided us with an Air Conditioner.
Then I had my Travellers Cheques stolen one of my so called friends/fellow Apprentices had stolen them I had no money, the mistake he made was to try and cash them he was eventually caught, all in all I must say that was the holiday from Hell, I haven't been back to Spain since.
