Old man grumpy post follows😁

Why do people here in the U.S. have to shoot off fireworks (or their firearms) until midnight and beyond days before the 4th, on the 4th and for days after the 4th?

I get the celebration thing, but some people want to or need to go to sleep before midnight! Have a little respect for your neighbors!

Go to friggin' bed already!

Grump over.

My neighbors have been going since Wednesday. My poor dog hates it too. Yeah I'm over it.

@EldritchFox pets especially. Last night my cat was a frickin nervous wreck.

Youthful exuberance. Those are teenagers having fun in a free country. In most cities now, its against the law and out here at the farm its been hot , dry , and windy. A burn ban is in effect. But in smaller towns , where they are not wound up so tight, they let kids be kids and do exactly what the adults were doing 20-30 years ago.

Not a fireworks thing but our neighbors behind us had a party annd the music was quite literally shaking the walls,man..finally at 4 am i decided to call the cops when it all stopped as quickly as it started at 10 om

@bookerdana I don’t understand why such neighbors think they can do such things without the police being called. They are counting on their neighbors being kinder than they are. So many inconsiderate people.

You may be grumpy (and me too) but you I bet would never treat your neighbors so badly.

@BiasForAction I don't get it ,either..they had a professional PA system with monitor speakers 6 feet high..they had to have realized how loud it was

I shot mine off before 10:30 pm.

@OverTheHill that's what I always did. Wait until the sun went down, shot off my fireworks and then went inside and let people get the sleep they wanted.
From google:
On the 4th of July, fireworks start over 30,000 fires and wildfires nationwide, resulting in twice as many reported fires as any other single day of the year. These blazes—which include thousands of structure and vehicle fires—cause tens of millions of dollars in direct property damage.

I look forward to hearing how many fingers were blown off nationwide this year

@robingoodfellow every year my neighbors/cousin shoots off a bunch and it's in the woods. I'm so scared every year it's gonna be the year my property catches on fire. All because he couldn't have any respect.
@EldritchFox they take no account of conditions. I love a fire outdoor at night. I won't do it if it's too dry.

its extra weird when you consider that many of the people who insist that its somewhere between patriotic duty and the ultimate form of free expression to be annoying af with fireworks will also tell you that they are wonderful supporters of veterans, although i have yet to meet a vet who doesn't find fireworks within a mile or so to traumatic and panic inducing.

It's only once a year. Relax.
Jonjdw · 51-55, M
I don’t get it either. I’m not interested in any of it anymore. And I wasn’t ever really big on fireworks anyway. Going to go see a professional display is nice but I don’t even care about that anymore.
