Why do we celebrate Christmas? It's not a real holiday. It's all made up. Santa Claus does not exist. And neither does Jesus. So why do we celebrate Christmas? To make money off of consumers. Valentine's Day Easter. More fake holidays. But New Year's is a legitimate holiday. Because we are celebrating the ending and beginning of a new year.

People before globalization worked with the seasons, the sun the equinoxes etc. Easter is Ostara celebrating the spring equinox - Ostara is a Goddess that lives in the moon with her hate and came to earth to visit children and to entertain the children she turned a chicken into a hare and it laid coloured eggs.

The new year 1st Jan is the man made one.

The feast on the 25th is to celebrate the days getting longer again. The Druids measured the day lengths. The shortest day in the Northern hemisphere is the 21st/22nd. 4-5 days later there would be a feast celebrating the confirmation that the sun was not dieing and was coming back.

There are many calender celebrations around the world because it was very important to life to keep touch with your actual environment.

Actually, the year ends on the Solstice, the shortest day of the year, usually December 21. January 1 is just a made up date.

Because we like to celebrate it. It's dark, so the tradition with lights and a Christmas tree comes in handy, it illuminates exteriors and interiors. It's cold outside and baking warms up homes. It's entirely up to you if you want to give presents or not. Giving presents just for a sake of giving them regardless if they are appreciated is BS.

But isn't the calendar itself totally arbitrary? There's like five or six calendars in use around the world.

It goes back to earlier pagan holidays. It's a celebration of the solstice the beginning of spring. The days become longer and longer. It's seen as a time of rebirth.

Jesus has been proven to exist over and over. I can't honestly believe that anyone is still arguing that Jesus never existed.
REMsleep · 41-45, F
@Richard65 Sorry. Most secular academics believe that Jesus existed.

@REMsleep "Believe".
Dictionary definition.
Verb:
Accept that (something) is true, especially without proof.

@Richard65 Semantics over my word choice.
Typical low level tactics instead of logic and facts
