Why spend so much money on fireworks for the 4th of July?

🤔 Seen people in community facebook groups post about how much they spent on fireworks for today. The highest I saw was over $5,000.

The most I've ever spent on fireworks to shoot for the 4th of July is probably around 30 bucks back when I was a teenager since that time if I want to watch fireworks I'll go watch a public showing of them less dangerous and more bang for the buck. I've never burned a dollar bill but that's basically what you're doing when you lite fireworks
@dale74 that you are greatful someone else is, right?

@TallMtnMedic normally they're public displays when you have a city that puts on a public display and that city has a population of a half million for the city to spend $100,000 on a fireworks display means they only spent 20 cents per resident for the common good. I've also been to firework displays that were put on by companies if that's one of the ways they choose to spend the profits and share it with the community by giving back to the community through that venture that is their choice. I have also paid money to go to a firework competition that was on the 4th of July back in I believe it was the '90s that was between five different firework manufacturers that was a nice 3-hour fireworks display.
@dale74 Done the same and still wonder why they spent that much money.
I wont spend a ton on fireworks, cant justify burning $$$ is less than a min, however I spend what I can because I want to and can, just like people that spend $5000. I work my ass off, Im gonna do what I want.
@TallMtnMedic I guess. Must be nice to buy that much and not stress over finances. 😅
@Snowvixen Agreed. Maybe someday, still wont be able to justify it.

celebrating American independence with chinese/communist made fireworks... 🤔
It’s literally lighting cash on fire. Pretty fire, but still fire.

Five grand? That's insane!

Individually?

Do you have community firework displays instead in which each might pay a modest amount towards it - or it comes out some local-authority budget - but you then have a really impressive, professionally-mounted display?

You can watch it on tv for free and its much safer too ...😊
Averages out my $0.00?

Same reason people spend money on Christmas lights. Some people get a kick out of putting on a show.
@MethDozer And halloween *guilty*
