What you up to this weekend?

I just wanna hear about your lives lol. I might be going to swim in a lake several hours from here & driving back the same day, that or the beach. Otherwise nothing new... 🖤

Sounds like fun.

My only plan this weekend is to go get an oil change tomorrow morning. Which means I have to get up early, like it is another workday. But I wanted to get it over with and enjoy the rest of my Saturday.

I will try and relax. I finished my workday today a little pissed, and I need to be away from work for a few days.

I just started a new job in the same office. It pays more and I am supposed to serve more people, so I expected I would have to learn new things, branch out, deal with more people, etc.

Today, they told me they want me to become a master of the survey we all work on. To learn all the methods, in detail, and be ready to offer advice. It is challenging, but I have already mastered a lot, so it would just be filling in the gaps.

Then they said the next thing I need to do is teach others all that I know. This includes a few classes. I am now terrified and a little pissed, because this is not what I signed up for. I have not taught a class in 24 years. I have given presentations, but the last organized one was 7 years ago. The last one I gave was last year, yet it was me just going through some code with a few people.

Also, I am used to standing in front of people, using a chalkboard (it was in the 90's!), and making eye contact. This virtual environment is so different. You usually see nobody, and just see your slides. There is no way to know if people are getting you. They could be asleep for all I know.

At least it is not right away. Next year I will team up with my new boss, and help him teach. Then the year after, I will take over. Yet before all that I may need to make some presentations to staff in my immediate office on some topics. Less scary since we know each other and we are all mathematicians. But I am still nervous. I am an introvert with bad hearing and eyesight. When there is crosstalk on MS Teams I cannot understand anything.

Ugh.

I'm going to IKEA to buy a pretend wooden kitchen, and on Sunday I'm playing football.

The lake swim sounds fun!
This morning Ari and I will visit the Crafters Market and an exhibition by the local Woodcrafters Guild.
This arvo, maybe a movie at the Regent.
We keep at least one day on the weekend to spend with each other.
Often we'll read the papers or a book to each other and discuss what's in them.
Freshly made coffee and a big breakfast are part of it.
Often a walk on the beach or in rainforest.

Had plans to take my son to an amusement park, but the plans got canceled.

We'll find something fun to do though.

That sounds like fun.
And I'm going to get a haircut tomorrow, and get a massage. Then on Sunday I should be in Greece. Hopefully 🤞
Cleaning for Fall. Dusty and hot.

Enjoy your day at the lake, sounds fun. We need that with the heat we've been getting.

I will probably see a gastroenterologist and get myself some medications, and work.
