An app where experts walk you through home repairs via video ?

I think it’s called "Frontdoor" ?
The commercials are kind of silly, but it’s a cool idea !

I find all my questions regarding repairs on yourube or just by googling.
Fixed my tractor, several times with help from random youtube guys. My dryer too.
It may help if you have a basic understanding of what is wrong though.

Before Reddit went bonkers with the protests by Mod's, it was a great place to go when you had questions on home repair. Currently it's the pits because the moderators shut down the most active of the home repair subreddits.

Which brings me to this: Why not start up a home repair resource for SW users? Questions and answers from users could be posted to: https://similarworlds.com/home-office which would make it easier to search and follow questions and answers.

I bet there is an untapped wealth of knowledge floating around SW and most people like to share their knowledge (asked for or not😜).

They'd earn much less than if they did the repair in place themselves, I don't really see this getting popular without sparking outrage among the workers/experts. Also the platform would likely retain a percentage of the (already lower) payment

I’ve seen the commercials.

I'm guessing that videos titled "Backdoor" differ considerably in subject matter?
@uncalled4 I wouldn’t know. 🫣

I'd rather trust chatGPT. Cause less humans then. lol
@Renaci I need to ask questions. AI never understands me.

@bijouxbroussard My mom was talking to an AI on the phone and I was really surprised at how well she was understood. And my mom is def a technophobe. She will use old country talk with computers so I'm really surprised the AI was able to help. I've always been used to phrasing things a certain way so the tech understands me. So I'm impressed.
