I Love DIY Projects

I am trying to make a beaded mason jar and although it's easy to make it comes with a slight challenge. This is what I'm making:

I watched a how-to video about it and tried hot gluing the beads on with hot glue as suggested, but the beads just fell off after the hot glue dried. Now I'm using E6000 glue, which was suggested in another DIY video for the same project. It's slippery and takes up 72 hours just to dry properly, so the beads are constantly sliding around on the jar! 馃槄 Someone suggested to speed the drying time with a fan, it's working so far but I still have to make sure the beads don't slide as the glue dries.

Another problem I have with E6000 is that it stinks, which is another reason why I have the fan on. And while reading the instructions on the back of the glue container, it says the ingredients can cause cancer! This means I have to make sure there's plenty of ventilation in the room and wash my hands after use. Oh yeah, and if I don't put that cap back on, the glue will continue to leak out of the bottle.

I was expecting this to be a quick and easy project but instead it's taking forever to finish. I still plan to make three beaded jars but I didn't think something so simple required so much time and patience!

Oh, those look cool! I might have to try that some time!

But I've found that if the glue isn't sticking on two smooth objects, it can help to sandpaper the surface and rough it up to give the glue more of an edge to grab on to. Just be careful of glass dust; that stuff you don't want in your lungs.

Looks like you did a good job. Some projects are more complicated than they appear.

Super glue might do the trick
