@SethGreene531 WOW! Just Wow! How is it all going?
SethGreene531 · M
@Musicman
It keeps me engaged, with something to look forward to.
Shortwave has been fascinating, it's like travelling the world from your easy chair.
Still need to learn morse code though....been catching interesting signals.
Still a big aviation enthusiast/spotter. If time permits, might get back in the sky someday behind the controls.
The amateur still life pics are turning out, but need to invest in a dedicated camera and maybe a lens too.
There's a guy on twitter photographing stars/rockets. Would be nice to archive some of my nighttime stargazing.
The landscaping/design, came after buying a new home. Just loving the grounds work, and planning future installments.
Drawn up some floor plans and 3D rendered them for remodelling the new house. Finance and a back issue are slowing things, but can't wait to get going.
I keep designing in the meantime.
All of which has driven an appreciation for architecture and home construction.
Will have to build some interior features, including a set of entryway windows and frenchdoors.
3 rooms need fireplace facades.....will attempt those myself. Judging by online schematics, it shouldn't be too hard.
Lucky to be surrounded by experienced journeymen for advice.
Seriously interested in music production. Friend has a Yamaha electric grand. Just want to mess around, record my own tracks.

@SethGreene531 That is all so amazing. I really like photography too. Landscapes, architecture and classic cars are my favorite subjects. I have a Canon 80D camera and a Sigma 18-300 mm lense. It's really a great catch all lens for being out and about.

@Musicman Very nice 🙂
Yes, I've seen some of your landscape shots; they're stunning.
Beautiful sunsets, shorelines and cloudscapes.
A Canon might be a good start. The catch all lens is definitely a wise idea, especially for me - a novice.
Heard some talk about photographers going back to film from digital....not sure what the merits are there though 🤔

@SethGreene531 Film isn't cheap and neither is developing. I really like my DSL camera. Personally I would never go back to film.
SethGreene531 · M
@Musicman Interesting. Good to know.
It never was economical back in the day. And I'm sure developing it yourself would be a nightmare.
The editing flexibility, and redundancy of DSL far outweighs the stylistic choice to use film, I totally agree.

@SethGreene531 Exactly! Plus with film you only get so many pictures per roll and then there are so many different speed films. I am not sure how expensive color developing is. With a DSL camera you can take as many pictures as your memory card will allow. Then like you said you can edit on your computer.
SethGreene531 · M
@Musicman Yes..and the film speeds 🤦♂
Contrast to present day, where photographers click off 30 shots/second = 1,000 + images per SD. Then filter out those you don't want later.
Instant uploads to the cloud, etc.
When DSL came in, my remaining 35 mm color roll developments were $30 each and took a week.

@SethGreene531 Yes! Film speed's are very important depending on what you are shooting and how light or dark it is. Who develops film these days? Do you have to mail it out somewhere?
SethGreene531 · M
@Musicman Oh gosh.....it was an independant camera shop that sent it away.
That was 15 years back now.
Today, I'm not sure if any place will do it.
I imagine you'd need to be in the industry and shooting film to know the existing processors.

@SethGreene531 I can believe that. Another reason to go digital.
