Running for fun and for the gold !

I've always done some running, but life gets in the way. Marriage. Children. Work. You know what it's like.

You get a little bit unfit. Only natural.

Think I hit around 25 years of age and thought that I'd soon be 30 and that spurred me onto starting to run. Firstly, for pleasure. Building it up from 3 miles to 5 miles, then onto 10 miles - I like round figures!

I've been part of a few annual races over the years, just over 6 miles distance, in around 42 minutes.

Always good to get a t-shirt and a medal !

I run a few times a week.

@MarkRichardson 5 Spartans, 2 Tough Mudders and a triathlon all after 50 and I was REALLY out of shape before that.

@SW-User We have something like that here to in Ocober it's called mudd warriors or something like that.

I like running too. I've never tried any marathons or anything like that though.
A nice hobby. Were you athletic as a child?
MarkRichardson · 46-50, M
@PoetryNEmotion Playing football (soccer to the American contingent on here) in the park with friends, up until around 16. Cross country running from, like, 13 or so. That was mainly it back then. But I love watching sport - the techniques, the dedication etc. Impressive.
@MarkRichardson I excelled in cross country. And I played competitive soccer in my early 50' s.

Nope , no no and no . 😂. Running is not fun . I can’t run 1/2 a mile without being completely out of breath.
Now put a bicycle under me and I can go all day and have fun doing it. When I was 60 I peddled my ten speed from Maine to Connecticut and spent a few days covering Rhode Island, best trip I’ve ever been on.
MarkRichardson · 46-50, M
@Repete After around 8 miles your breathing calms down.... Just saying! Lol!
DoubleRings · 51-55, F
Amazing. It takes me 40 min to do half that! I’m so slow!
MarkRichardson · 46-50, M
@DoubleRings Don't hit me....but men are made differently and, because of biology, tend to run a bit faster than women...BUT...you're getting up and doing it, that's the main thing! Good time as well, so keep it up!

😀

When you run from your house and finish your 10 miles do you wonder how am I going back home?
MarkRichardson · 46-50, M
@AnommonA86 Oh, I have a little circuit that...brings me back to my door! Yay! 😀
