Have you ever offered to help out at a soup kitchen but they turned you down because you don't belong to their church ?

Or any for that matter ? Seriously, it defeats the purpose....

That's awful, it shouldn't matter what religious ideology you have. Helping others is all that should matter. :(

I agree with the sentiment, but if you consider it from the other side... they don't know you at all, are you there to actually help or to be effectively a RL troll and cause problems? do you have a criminal history? are you a nutwad that wants to poison people? they likely have very few resources and trying to vet everyone they've never worked/talked with before is far too expensive and time consuming.

Anyone could be a nutwad even religious people, and often ex felons and addicts serve the needy as part of their recovery and healing. I would assume most trolls would be too lazy to actually donate their time to a cause like a soup kitchen. To me this sounds more like they were judging her based on her lack of religious affiliation. Not trying to be a brat Mal but I respectfully disagree that it was a vetting thing. They want people to represent their ideals Is my theory but I could be wrong.

@InfiniteBlue: it's a shame there are people being turned away that genuinely want to help

@Chernobylplayground: really sad, I hope you find a more inclusive accepting charity or cause to devote some time to.
