I can't listen to music when there are distractions

I can't listen to music wherever there are disturbances going on, such as a lot of noise, or when I get phone calls from people because I get very shook up. And I feel like that I have to listen to music only when I'm on a clean slate and that there are no disturbances to my day. Is anybody else like this? Is it normal?
