Why is my facebook locked ?

I tried to get into my facebook account and it said ''Temporarily locked, suspicious activity'' To my knowledge I have not put anything inappropriate on there other than promoting someones's book, this may have been reported as spam? How long could this go on for ?

Some, apparently, have that if they log in with a different browser or with a mobile telephone - and from a different location.
